Every job has unique problems (problems being synonymous with customers). Coworkers at any place can always relate about the shared annoying phrases and actions that customers have. Personally, I am currently a barista at Starbucks and have a handful of my own pet peeves:
-
When I call out someoneās drink and SAY ādecafā or āwith coconut milkā or something and they ask āThis is *thing I JUST said*, right??ā
-
When people act like theyāre too good to say tall/grande/venti, or just make a big deal about it in general. I donāt care. Just say a size, I promise it wonāt keep me up at night.
-
When people WATCH me write their drink on a HOT cup and when I make it and call it out they say āThis was supposed to be coldā¦ā
-
āPinkity drinkityā
-
Me: āHi! How are y-ā Customer: āCaramel Macchiato.ā
-
SPEAKING OF CARAMEL MACCHIATOS, if you get it āupside downā itās not even a macchiato anymore, just a vanilla latte with caramel drizzle.
-
Frappuccinos. That is all.
-
When people complain about their drink to their friend within earshot! Just ask me to fix it for you so you can get what you paid for, no need to be rude.
-
āHow are you gonna get rid of straws?!ā Maāam youāll have to ask Howard Schultz, I simply donāt know.
-
āI want a *orders a drink backwards and in the most complicated way possible*ā
-
āThey donāt ask me that at the other store, they usually just make itā tells me that your barista usually just makes an assumption instead of finding out what it is you actually want.
