There are endless guides on places to visit in San Juan Puerto Rico, but I’m here to introduce you to some spots that might not be featured. Whether you’re looking for relaxing waterfalls with crystal blue water or delicious food at beautiful restaurants, I’ve got you covered with my spring break itinerary.
Museums
- Museo de Arte de Bayamón -This museum has free entry and was opened in the 90s. It has seven rooms and a sculpture garden. It is located on the same grounds as the science park in Puerto Rico, which is a collection of science museums that also includes a planetarium and zoo.
- Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar -Like the majority of museums on the island, this space was previously a house. It was inspired by French architecture and features pieces that represent the interior design culture of Puerto Rico.
- Jardín Botánico de la Universidad de Puerto Rico– This botanical garden is located next to a university and has over 30,000 plants as well as turtles and waterfalls.
Waterfalls to Explore
El Yunque is the most famous rainforest in Puerto Rico, covering about 28,000 acres of land with natural waterslides and rivers to jump into. Some of the waterfalls that can be found in the rainforest are Los Pilones (the closest to San Juan), Rio Espiritu Santo, and Juan Diego Falls. The island is filled with more breathtaking waterfalls that are not mentioned that are worth visiting as well. Since I’m staying in San Juan, I will be going to Cascada Charco Prieto in Bayamon which is about a 50 minute drive away. Some other beautiful waterfalls around the island include La Planta Electrica, Las Delicias, and Chorro de Dona Juana.
Ziplining
El Yunque also has four different ziplining sites: the Rainforest Zipline Park, Junglequi, Yunque Ziplining, and Corcovado. These can range in price from $100-$200. For a cheaper and closer option, Toro Verde Urban Park has outdoor ziplining right in San Juan ranging from $20-$40.
Restaurants
One thing about me is I like to eat … with a view. Here are some beautiful places (with amazing food) I will visit during my stay.
- Kiosko El Boricua – This place is right by the beach and has authentic Puerto Rican street food as well as pina coladas, coconut water and kebabs. What more do you need in life?
- Eter Rooftop- This restaurant has a pool and a great view of the Bay Area while serving up a combination of Puerto Rican and American food.
- Havana Bar and Grill- This beautiful Cuban Puerto Rican restaurant has beachfront dining with seafood pasta, mofongo and ropa vieja.
Lastly, I will be visiting the skate park in Puntas Las Marias, thrift at Electroshock, get a piercing to commemorate my trip and be swimming in Condado Beach all day of course.
