We are barely a month into 2025 and I feel like so much has happened. I feel like this happens a lot after we ring in a New Year, that sporadically crazy events pop out of the blue. But there is a mix of good and bad in this can of worms that we are about to open. From Demi Moore coming out of the shadows Hollywood left her in to a new resurgence of the Nazi salute, we will be covering all the major events that have happened in 2025 so far. . .
The LA Fires
On January 7th, a horrific swarm of wildfires took parts of Los Angeles leaving 25 people killed and 100,000 without a place to live. Many wonder how the fires started but there seems to be no real evidence yet. First believed to be some kind of arson is now being called a disaster of natural causes due to the extreme gusts of hot wind. It was a terrible tragedy that is still attempting to be snuffed out. Evacuations are being lifted today as firefighters are increasing containment on the coast of Los Angeles.
Tiktok Ban. . . Oh Wait No It’s Not
The Tiktok ban has been being discussed since 2020 by President Trump. And after a year or so, I felt like many of us forgot about this ban being announced or we just assumed the ban was never going to happen. But on January 19th, that day finally came. Tiktok users around the United States were opening their apps to find that message displayed: “A law banning Tiktok has been enacted by the U.S. . .We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate Tiktok once he takes office.”
Which first off, is strange because President Trump was the one to announce its ban. . .how strange. But after a short 14 hours, the ban was lifted resulting in this message displaying as you opened the app: “Welcome back! Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, Tiktok is back in the U.S.!” The fall and rise again of Tiktok was not even 24 hours. I bet it wasn’t a coincidence that Trump was featured in these messages. Was this ban an attempt to gain support, not for Tiktok, but for Trump?
Elon Musk is a Nazi?
Speaking of men in the political field, I feel like I cannot address the crazy things that have happened this month without talking about Elon Musk. At Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th, Elon Musk spoke at the event. What we expected was to see Musk show his support by giving a short speech with kind words about his new president. But instead, he performed a salute by slapping his hand against his chest and then raising his arm out straight to the sky with his palm down. Which is the salute affiliated with the Nazis to show support for Hitler. He did this salute not only once, but twice. Twice.
So what are we to believe? That Elon Musk is a Nazi for Trump’s Hitler? Many believe that Musk was doing a “Roman” salute and passed it off as a “heat of the moment” gesture. All I’m saying is if someone else who wasn’t a billionaire who created Tesla, they would definitely not be as passed off as Musk is.
DEmi Moore finally gets recognition
Demi Moore has been in the acting game for quite a while. She is 62 years old (AND LOOKS GREAT!) but started acting when she was 19. To name a few of her works: “Ghost“, “A Few Good Men“, “Austin Powers“, “St. Elmo’s Fire“, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame“, and my personal favorite, “Now and Then”. But her first big win at the Golden Globes on January 5th, she finally got her the recognition she’s always deserved. Her Golden Globes was for an Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture and won thanks to her role in The Substance. The Substance is a terrifying movie with symbolism about growing older, which also flows well with Demi Moore’s win. Also, I would recommend not seeing The Substance on a full stomach. . .
